Jillian Micheals

Hello All,
How is everybody? I hope that everybody is having a great day.
I am trying out Jillian Micheals diet plan and workout exercises online. SO far I seem to like it, but I think that it is too much for me. However I can say that my pants right now, I think, are a little to big and they are a size six. SO I am happy about that and taht is from me just dieting and exercising. Also I would like to lose twenty pounds off form my 135 orginal weight. So far I have gained three from the four pounds that I have lost, but I have not weighted myself in yet since then. However I plan on doing so tomorrow.

Today I have made the decision to join ww. Again. I have been obese for too long and I avoid life because of it. It is time to stop the madness and reclaim my body and self esteem. I will attend a meeting in the am and weigh in. Oh , the horror. I will no longer be able to hide from the terrible truth. I am joining this blog to report my progress and possibly whine when I am feeling whiney. Also I will be here with an attentive ear and perhaps some hope for those like me.

Oh today was "cheat day" for the ABS Diet

and it did not go well. Every week I have to schedule one "cheat meal" in my cheat day. I am thinking of dumping this day altogether.

I could not think of something that I would want to have in place of one of the foods I can have on the ABS Diet plan.

How screwed up is that? I could have had some fast food thing, or a donut or cinnamon roll from Specialty's or anything. Instead I had some extra Bing Cherries (totally out of season but they looked good at Costco - impulse buy) and here's the baddie two Nilla Wafer Cakesters at 110 calories a pop (wanted something super sweet and very vanilla). Oh yeah and I repeated my lunch from dinner (a whole wheat pita with marinara sauce sliced onion, a slice of deli turkey chopped up and 2 TBSP of low-fat Italian cheese- it's actually really good tackled a mild desire to run and but a slice of pizza or something as a cheat).

I told my calorie consumption on my scheduled "Cheat day" for the ABS Diet was 1200 calories. WTF? Last week my cheat was something tiny too (a small non-fat frozen yogurt with fresh strawberries).

What on earth is wrong with me? I'm I just too mental cluttered to go wild and splurge or do I just have no desire to anymore.

I guess my cheat today was that I was lazy as hell. I watched Anime on the computer in between priming my bathroom walls for painting and talking to potential new employers on the phone.

I need to get off my duff and try the new exercise dvd I bought (The Tracy Anderson Method Dance) it looks super fun but somewhat complex. I need to go out and walk my arse off throughout the city again but I find an excuse to shorten my walks even though I enjoy them.

Ridding myself of dissatisfaction this is weeks goal. I will not be so dissatisfied with every thing that I do nothing. Mr. Kettlebell I will defeat you and Mr. Speed Rope this week!

[In case you're wondering the ABS DIET FOR WOMEN is from the writer's of Women's Health Magazine along with Alexa Fishback of The Daily Fixe (I believe). I bought the books and discovered I already had the foods, I just needed to plan out my meals and snacks and schedule a time to eat them then do it. Very simple, I actually talk to my doctor's about eating on this dietary path for a long time and they read it and were very happy with the scheme of it. ABS DIET is an acronym - ABS DIET POWER - 12 foods you should have during the day to maintain a healthy body they are:

A- Almond (and other nuts)
B- Beans (your choice of)
S- Spinach (or other green veggies)

D- Diary (Low-fat)
I- Instant Oatmeal or steel cut if you have the time
E- Eggs
T- Turkey (and other lean meats)

P- Peanut Butter
O- Olive Oil
W- Whole-grain breads and cereals
E- Extra (Whey) Protein Powder
R- Raspberries (or other berries)

Those are foods your suppose eat each day - together or separately. You don't have to get every one of the 12 food items in your 3 scheduled meals and 2 scheduled snacks but it's actually very easy to. Any way the dietary plan is easy and I have lost about 7 pounds in two weeks - but remember I had Gastric Bypass Surgery so my body is a little on the extreme end of things. It either goes big with weight loss on the scale or the numbers stay the same but my sizes majorly decrease.]

Anyway, had to get that off my chest.

This week I will not allow myself to be dissatisfied with anything - my workout effort, my life in general or effort to write and complete at least 2 short stories. No dissatisfaction allowed.

1 WEEK IN AND 2.5 LBS DOWN!!!

1 Week into My 16-week Journey and…

I LOST 2.5LBS THIS WEEK!!!

BASICALLY I:

-Stuck to eating 5-6 meals a day of protein/complex & fibrous carbs and a decent amount of water about 80% of the week

- Grazed “HEALTHFULLY” the rest of the week

-Tried to sleep 6-7 hours a night (even though I had tons of school work)

-For the cheats I allow myself I had 1 sliver of chocolate cake and a twix bar…

-Worked out 2 days this week but…I over exerted myself and could barely walk after Day 2

MY SETBACKS:

-The 5-6 meals I ate were HUGE portions…I like eating until I feel full which I think may be a problem as I’ve read one should only eat until 80% full

- I need more water, so this week I’ll be trying to drink 1 glass before and 1 glass after meals or even herbal tea. My aim: 8-12 cups of water

-As stated above I only worked out 2 days instead of 5 which was disappointing L

-I need to figure out HEALTHY CHEATS:

I think cheating weekly with copious amounts of sugar and bad crap defeats the purpose of a healthy lifestyle…so maybe cheating or derailing (sounds better than cheating) with vegan cookies -which are far healthier- or trying out new *ethnic restaurants like Ethiopian food for example would be wiser (a naturopath I saw a few years back said ethnic food is far healthier-so why not use it in my “derailing” meals)

Any advise on healthy cheats/derailments???
Any tips/comments in general???

Thx

My Goal: 35LBS IN 4 MONTHS

Well I am giving myself 4 months to lose 35lbs --sounds reasonable, Right? To date I have gone from 197lbs-163 so my ultimate goal is to be around 130lbs at 5'8". I'll post from time to time with new insights and mini-goals!

I’m aiming for around:

-3 meals consisting of: fibrous carb or complex carb and lean protein
-2 snacks of lean protein and either fibrous carb/complex carb/ or healthy fat (nuts)
-2-3 litres of water daily
-60 minutes of cardio 5 days a week (interval, spinning, running, elliptical etc…)
-30-60 minutes of David Kirsh’s DVDs or Yoga Burn by Gaiam’s Rodney Yee or circuit training 2-5 days a week
-1,400-1,500 calories
-Perhaps 1 cheat meal a week to get cravings out of the way
-And perhaps keep score of week or biweekly weigh in or measuring-in with a tape measure

Food options: veggies, lean protein, fruits, sprouted breads/grains, beans/lentils, nuts, healthy fats, kashi bars, soy latte’s on occasion and tons of water

What do you think? Any suggestions?
