I need help in this area because I have tried almost everything: diet soda(makes me hungry), sparkling water(just makes me want the regular stuff even more), crystal light(makes me hungry), tea(I drink it like water and I still want a soda), going cold turkey(i wound up drinking a two liter of soda). I already drink 8 glasses of water a day.
At the beginning of the year I would drink about 32oz of soda every day, but now I only drink 12oz every 2 or 3 days. I've tried extending the amount of days between each 12oz of soda but I cave after about the 7th day and wind up drinking 2 12oz cans. Is it just a process that every month or so try to increase the amount of days I go without a soda?

Are you trying to kick caffienated kinds ie cola or just any kind of soda? The caffeine withdrawal really sucks, always gives me the worst migraines every time I try to stop.
The thing that kind of worked for me was switching to a cheaper brand that I didn't like as much for a couple of weeks. After that I was pretty much able to stop cold turkey with no problems. I still have the odd can but try to make it an irregular thing so I'm not developing a habit again.
The other thing is trying to stop that mental voice in your head that says "I want a soda". Try taking the approach that you can have a soda any time you want but you choose not too.
1I don't like diet, and regular isn't healthy, so I started drinking a ton of water during the day and tea with artifical sweetner at night. I still want soda, but I just don't drink it (i save those empty calories for my juice slushees i get every 2 weeks lol)
If you are still doing caffeine, just add it somewhere else in your diet, like coffee, tea, etc. When i first quit, i had a bad headache for a day and a half. then it was gone and my caffeine addiction was gone with it. I still have caffeine once in a while (usually through chocolate or the occassional glass of tea) but i feel the same without it as i did with, if not less jittery! good luck!
