I would prefer to work out at home, but I need the gym for all my lifting portion of workouts because honestly, who can afford all those machines. I have some dumbbells at home, but that's
not enough. At the gym I have variety and lots of new stuff to try out. Of course, I managed to lose a lot of weight working out at home, so a gym is not 100% necessary.
Treadmill section, 5pm @gym = scary place. There are lineups around the treadmills, and girls who give you very nasty looks if you even seem, for one minute, to be contemplating using a
treadmill.
I'd rather work out at home. I don't enjoy being around a bunch of sweaty ppl. Plus I can fit it around my schedule, and I have the room for a couple of machines.
It really depends on what kind of workout you are doing at home. SOmetimes when Im at home I really dont have the motivation to work out. I think that working out at home can be successful if
you have weights because we all know the more muscle you have the better you are at burning fat.
SJP- I know what you mean about the gym. Thats why I go in the morning on the weekends. If I go around 830-900 in the morning no one is there because college kids dont get up before 11
I like to go to overseas places- like Canada!

I am at gym work out girl. At home I get too distracted and I don't feel like i push myself. I think being around other people makes me a bit more competitive, you know? I will do the
occasional video at home that i am too embarrassed to try at the gym... like the cardio striptease fit posted about. Or i have heard of pole dancing but i would be mortified to try it in
public.
The gym is great for socializing, equipment variety, and fitness education, but it really doesn't provide a better workout; that's up to you and how hard you want to work wherever you are.
The gym has its upsides and its downsides. I bought an expensive membership and used to go all the time when I lived two blocks away... now I'm much too far to make it convenient, so I've
switched to working out at home and I find I'm more consistent. I bought an elliptical trainer, which was definitely an investment; but because I see it every day, I use it a lot more than I
used to at the gym. And waiting in line to use the machines or freeweights at the gym was a pain - nobody uses mine but me at home! I miss the group classes, but you can sign up for those
without taking on a full gym membership at most places anyway. As for competition... I compete with friends and online "gym buddies" who keep me motivated.

No way....I hate the gym as I hate the smell and the germs.
I prefer to work out at home but I do not push myself as hard as I should
