Well I am giving myself 4 months to lose 35lbs --sounds reasonable, Right? To date I have gone from 197lbs-163 so my ultimate goal is to be around 130lbs at 5'8". I'll post from time to time with new insights and mini-goals!
I’m aiming for around:
-3 meals consisting of: fibrous carb or complex carb and lean protein
-2 snacks of lean protein and either fibrous carb/complex carb/ or healthy fat (nuts)
-2-3 litres of water daily
-60 minutes of cardio 5 days a week (interval, spinning, running, elliptical etc…)
-30-60 minutes of David Kirsh’s DVDs or Yoga Burn by Gaiam’s Rodney Yee or circuit training 2-5 days a week
-1,400-1,500 calories
-Perhaps 1 cheat meal a week to get cravings out of the way
-And perhaps keep score of week or biweekly weigh in or measuring-in with a tape measure
Food options: veggies, lean protein, fruits, sprouted breads/grains, beans/lentils, nuts, healthy fats, kashi bars, soy latte’s on occasion and tons of water
What do you think? Any suggestions?

A few years ago (8, I think) I went from about 170 to 135lbs by seeing a nutritionist and making some big lifestyle changes. My plan was pretty similar to yours but here's some input...
+ It's so good to see that drinking WATER is so high on the list--water is super important for all the obvious (and maybe some not-so-obvious) reasons. When I started losing weight years ago, I made it a rule to drink two pint glasses of water every time I became hungry between meals. If I was still hungry a few minutes after drinking them, I would have a light snack. You'll find out really quickly that you will rarely ever need a snack after, though.
+ Have you tried the CRUNCH series Super Slim Down Yoga/Pilates blend? It's by far my favorite exercise DVD. I haven't tried the yoga one you mentioned, but this is a great blend of aerobic + strength training and will leave you really sculpted if you do it every other day or so.
+ On the meal plan I put myself on (definitely not a fad diet) I had 3 square meals with no snacks other than veggies. This was definitely hard to do but I think it really worked for me in the long run.
There's a ton more, but I'm sure you either know it or am bored with this comment already
Good luck! You'll be fine.
1Good Luck! I need to set a goal for myself also.
2I have the same goal- 35 lbs. and 4 months sounds like a good amount of time to do it in! I will watch your journey for moral support. Good luck- it seems as if you have a good plan.
3You might be pushing it a little bit, considering it takes time to lose weight...plus, other things you didnt foresee and make that 4 month date turn into 8 months. You need to first of all figure out if 1400 is too little for you...which is very well might. With exercising, you are going to have to compensate by upping your calories 100 or 200 a day. So, instead of 1500, aim for 1700 -- which is always encouraged with exercising. You can easily lose 10 lbs per month the healthy way (sometimes even more, maybe another couple lbs) but you have to be healthy. Figure out your burn rate...how many calories you burn by just being awake (and sedentary). Figure out your BMR after that (how many calories it takes for you to just survive) and devise a plan. If you burn 2000 calories a day and eat 1500 calories a day...that is 500 cal deficit...and if you do that everyday, theoretically, that equals 1 lb. Anywhere between 1 and 2 lbs is safe. You just need to remember to eat enough, drink lots of water, and take it day by day. You may not reach your goal in 4 months...but it is a reasonable goal, just might not be completely realistic for some people.
4Doctors recommend losing 1-3lbs. a week considering starting weight. You fall in the 1lb. category. At 5'8" with an average frame and muscle tone 150lbs is healthy. Like some others suggested...please have a physical first and let them guide you to an optimal weight which is an individual goal, not a group decision. Take care.
535 pounds in just 4 months sounds like a lot to me!! when i gained my freshman 15, more like 20, I set to work to lose the extra pounds and lost 20 in a year. That was with eating healthy and elipticaling for 20 min 4 times a week. I'm not sure how realistic this goal is.. but wish you luck all the same!
6THANKS GUYS FOR ALL THE WELL WISHES AND GREAT ADVICE…
I am aware that it may take long because I have to learn lifelong changes, but I like having a goal to work towards beside as someone mentioned above I’d be losing around 2lbs a week so I think that is the healthy way J
