So i thought i was only 10lbs from my goal weight, or so my scale tells me...then i went to the doctor today because ive been having alot of phlem latley and it says i was 8lbs heavier than my scale at home does! I took off my shoes and everything! my scale at home is digital and the one they use at the doctore is where you stand on it and they slide the thing back and forth. it seems like their scale is so old school. so im more inclined to believe the one at home. Its just so frustrating. If their scale is true that means im almost 20lbs away from my goal! How will i ever make it?? Im so depressed right now, i try so hard only to be faced with this. right now i am asking myself...WTF?!?!?!?!?
New Look
The balance scale at the doctor's office, though old, is much more reliable than a digital bathroom scale.
1Whiplash is absolute correct. However, keep in mind that muscle weighs A LOT more than fat. So just because your scale isn't moving as fast as you'd like, doesn't mean you're not looking a ton better!!! Just look at some old pics before your started trying to lose weight and you'll see how far you've come. Keep your head up hun!

2You shouldnt go on the scale all that much, I mean I don't go on the scales because I know my weight usually stays the same, but I do lose weight when I'm not trying to. I only weigh myself when I am at the doctors, you get less anxiety that way.
3Keep your head up. All of us in the Diet Support Group are witnesses that you have been trying really hard regardless of what the scales says. You've been working hard (and losing weight), but you've also motivated others with your stories here.
Keep up the good work.
4In my experience the doctor's scales always say that we weigh more than our home scales. However, if you started your weight loss based on your home scale, then you should still be 10 lbs away from your goal weight if that is what it says. You should probably decide on at what weight your body looks good as opposed to a specific number.
5don't pay too much attention to weight SL, if you have been exercising it is logical that you have gained muscle weight. Which is awesome. I rely more on my clothes, if they fit better I'm doing well.
And I totally agree with lms.

6Just happy to be!
Grrrr this happened to me, too. I would just forget about the doctor's scale, and pay attention to the weight that's dropping off based on your home scale!!
7I know what you mean SeptemberLights...I have this problem all the time. I get on one scale and feel really good about myself, and then get on a different one another time and it says I've gained weight and even if it's a 'skinny day' it can make me feel crazy! I agree with Shiloh...I've kind of begun relying on how my clothes feel rather than the actual weight
